Your EPF savings serve to ensure that you have some financial security in the form of retirement savings for when you retire or are no longer employed. That is why the EPF Act 1991 mandates employees to register as a member and contribute to their own savings.

There are the various ways that you may register to be an EPF member.

 

Ways To Register

  • Automatic

    When the EPF receives your first contribution from your employer, you will be automatically registered as a member.

    The registration will be made based on your name and identification card number as stated on Form KWSP 6 (Form A). The account will be activated once the EPF receives verification from the National Registration Department (NRD).

  • Counter

    By using only your MyKad at any EPF counter, you can register as a member.

    In the event of unsuccessful verification or if you are not a Malaysian citizen, you will be required to complete the Form KWSP 3 (Registration). You will receive a notice with your EPF member number upon successful registration.

  • Employer i-Akaun

    Your employer can register you as an EPF member through i-Akaun (Employer) with your details.

    You will receive a notice with your EPF member number upon successful registration.

  • Kiosk

    By using only your MyKad and verifying your thumbprint at any EPF Smart Kiosk, you can register as a member.

    You will receive a notice with your EPF member number upon successful registration.

  

IMPORTANT REMINDER

Every EPF membership number is unique, and it will be used for all your transactions with the EPF including Contributions and Withdrawals. That is why, it is essential to notify your new employer of your membership number to ensure continuous and accurate crediting of contributions into your EPF account.

Choose Your Savings

Each member may choose to:

  • maintain their account under Simpanan Konvensional where their savings will be managed and invested conventionally; or
  • switch their account to Simpanan Shariah where their savings will be managed and invested according to Shariah principles.

Register & Activate i-Akaun

The EPF has made it easier for our members to access their EPF savings through i-Akaun (Member), where you can also monitor your contributions and apply for withdrawals easily.

Step 1

Get your temporary User ID & Password from your nearest EPF office/kiosk.

Step 2

Head to www.kwsp.gov.my, go to the ‘Member Login’ section and use the temporary User ID & Password sent via SMS to activate.
*Activation must be done within 30 days of receiving SMS

Step 3

Once you agree, you will need to choose a new User ID*, Password, Image and Secret Phrase.

*If User ID is not chose, you can use your temporary ID

Step 4

Once activation is complete, you will get a successful notification on your screen.

Step 5

Login with your new account details and you are now in charge of your EPF savings.
