Your EPF savings serve to ensure that you have some financial security in the form of retirement savings for when you retire or are no longer employed. That is why the EPF Act 1991 mandates employees to register as a member and contribute to their own savings.
When the EPF receives your first contribution from your employer, you will be automatically registered as a member.
The registration will be made based on your name and identification card number as stated on Form KWSP 6 (Form A). The account will be activated once the EPF receives verification from the National Registration Department (NRD).
By using only your MyKad at any EPF counter, you can register as a member.
In the event of unsuccessful verification or if you are not a Malaysian citizen, you will be required to complete the Form KWSP 3 (Registration). You will receive a notice with your EPF member number upon successful registration.
By using only your MyKad and verifying your thumbprint at any EPF Smart Kiosk, you can register as a member.
You will receive a notice with your EPF member number upon successful registration.
Every EPF membership number is unique, and it will be used for all your transactions with the EPF including Contributions and Withdrawals. That is why, it is essential to notify your new employer of your membership number to ensure continuous and accurate crediting of contributions into your EPF account.
