EPF Confirms Pensioner’s Savings Did Not Go Missing

With regards to a news report by Sinar Harian dated 5 December 2016 titled Wang Simpanan KWSP Lesap, which carried a claim made by a civil service pensioner over his missing EPF savings, the EPF has initiated an immediate investigation into the matter, including visiting the member at his residence and to obtain his fingerprint for verification. Based on our internal investigations, we can confirm that his fingerprint matches with that of the EPF Member Registration records and the EPF Withdrawal Application forms. In addition, we have verified that his fingerprint also matches with the thumbprints affixed on the cheques when they were encashed for withdrawal payments in 1990 and 1993 respectively, amounting to a total of RM8,199.71.

We would like to assure members that it is EPF’s core responsibility to safeguard and preserve members’ retirement savings. The EPF encourages all members to check with the nearest EPF branch if they have queries on their account details. Members should also register for i-Akaun so that they can keep track of their EPF account activities at their convenience.
