Global Experts Discuss Future Of Work At EPF’s International Social Security Conference 2017
KUALA LUMPUR, 2 August 2017: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) today hosts its annual International Social Security Conference 2017 at the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, discussing the shifting workplace landscape and how the future of work will affect forthcoming employment prospects and imminent working lives.
The conference, taking place from 2 to 3 August 2017, is themed “Future of Work: Preparing for Tomorrow Today”. It is jointly organised with global investments company BNY Mellon, whose presence in the Asia Pacific region has spanned more than 100 years. BNY Mellon is also one of the first U.S. financial institutions to invest in the region.
The annual conference has attracted numerous industry experts, opinion and thought leaders from around the world in line with efforts to raise greater awareness to the issues impacting societies around the world. This year, the event brings together renowned speakers from the United States, Australia, Switzerland, Japan and Malaysia.
Officiating the conference, EPF Chairman Tan Sri Samsudin Osman said, “The notion of work and future retirement is likely to evolve in tandem with the rapid development of technology. New technologies, data analytics and social networks are creating profound changes impacting how we communicate, collaborate, live and work.
“Many of the roles and job titles that we have today will not be around in the future. There will be new and different roles and job titles. Hence, it is imperative that we continuously engage in conversations surrounding tough and challenging issues of this so-called ‘New Work Order’”.
Tan Sri Samsudin said partnering with BNY Mellon gave the EPF an excellent opportunity to network and tap into their global expertise on driving global growth and prosperity, while improving lives through investment and wealth management. This aligns well with EPF’s mandate to provide the best returns for our members’ retirement savings through our prudent investment strategy, he added.
Chairman, Asia Pacific of BNY Mellon David Cruikshank, who also addressed the conference, said BNY Mellon has always been at the forefront of innovation and leading the way with new thinking. “For many companies, innovation is almost synonymous with technology. We need to stay relevant in a rapidly changing work environment and turn disruptions into opportunity and open new paths for growth.
“We are happy to be partnering with the EPF this year as well as share our insights with the conference participants to drive home the message on managing current changes and preparing for the future.”
