Death Withdrawal
In the event of your untimely demise, your EPF savings are an assurance that your loved ones are well cared for financially in their time of need, and to aid them with funeral arrangements. We encourage all members to nominate your beneficiaries early on, to enable your next-of-kin to withdraw your EPF savings without complications. The member's dependent will also be considered for the Death Assistance to support them through this difficult time.
Required Documents
- Form KWSP 9KM (AHL) and checklist
- Copy of identification documents with original for verification
- Copy of applicant's birth certificate with original for verification (if required)
- Member's death certificate or nominee's death certificate (if nominee has passed away)
- Member's birth certificate (if member is unmarried) or marriage certificate (if member is married) or member's divorce certificate/ proof of relation to applicant (if member is divorced)
- Bank account details (savings account statement/ current account statement/ verification letter of account holder's details from bank/ estate account of the deceased - under deceased's name)
- Declaration of marriage letter (if member is a Non-Muslim married before 1 March 1982)
- Power of attorney (official letter issued by the courts/ legal institutions/ Amanah Raya Berhad (ARB))
- Recipient's declaration of responsibility (Muslims - Appendix A)
- Recipient's declaration of responsibility (Non-Muslims - Appendix B)

What You Should Know
For Muslims:
- If the nominee passes away, their next-of-kin is eligible to apply for Death Withdrawal.
For Non-Muslims:
- If the nominee passes away before the death of the member, the member’s next-of-kin is eligible to apply for Death Withdrawal. But, if the nominee passes away after the death of the member, the nominee’s next-of-kin is eligible to apply.

Death Assistance
The Death Assistance is a gesture of compassion by the EPF to our member’s next-of-kin (under EPF’s discretion). A one-time payment of RM2,500 will be considered and awarded to any of the deceased member’s eligible dependents
(widow/ widower, child, or member's parents, subject to member's marital status).
Note: The EPF reserves the rights to make all final decisions pertaining to the Death Assistance.

Note: Amanah Raya Bhd (ARB) will receive 100% of the EPF member's savings either as the nominee (for Muslim/non-Muslim members) or as a Trustee (for non-Muslim members - subject to the nominee's age and distribution) based on the applicable laws.
Without Nomination
Note: If member passes away without making a nomination, any institution that is appointed by the court will act accordingly to apply for the Death Withdrawal.

Payment Methods
- Local Payments
a. Full payment in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) will be credited to your bank account
If you hold an active account with our panel bank and your identification number matches the bank records.
b. You will be issued a Bankers Cheque
If payment to your bank account is unsuccessful.
- Overseas Payments
a. Full payment will be made via Foreign Demand Draft in the currency of your choice
If your preferred currency is included in our list of approved currencies.
b. Full payment will be made via Foreign Demand Draft in US Dollars
If your preferred currency is not available on our approved list.

- Certify your documents
Ensure ALL copies of documents have been certified and acknowledged by the authorised persons.
(complete with name, designation and official stamp except for copies of documents which require certification by an EPF officer) - Double check your panel banks
Refer to the list of EPF panel banks for direct crediting of payment into member’s account. - Submit to EPF
