What is i-Suri?

i-Suri is a subscription programme voluntary for women registered in the National Poverty Data Bank (eKasih) including housewives, widows, single mothers and single women. Eligible EPF members will receive a special incentive of up to a a maximum of RM300 per year, subject to a lifetime incentive limit of RM3,000 or upon reaching the age of 55, whichever comes first.


Why was i-Suri introduced?

The introduction of i-Suri aims to empower eligible housewives, providing them with the following benefits: 

i.   Ensuring retirement income security in their elderly years, particularly for vulnerable housewives at high risk of poverty;
ii.  Safeguarding their well-being in their elderly years or during sudden changes in the household;
iii. Recognising and acknowledging the significant contribution of housewives in maintaining the harmony of the household and the country; and
iv. Promoting a culture of continuous savings for retirement income in their elderly years.
This initiative is designed to address the unique challenges faced by housewives, enhancing their financial security and acknowledging their invaluable role in society.
 


Who is eligible to apply for i-Suri?

i-Suri registration for members listed in eKasih as of the latest list can be made as follows:

i.    Automatic registration of new EPF members matched with eKasih data information

ii.   Self-registration through:-

          a.  EPF i-Akaun mobile application

          b.  Online registration on the EPF website

          c.  Registration at Self-Service Terminal (SST)

Will the registration status of i-Suri which has been cancelled be re-registered?

Yes. i-Suri members whose registration was cancelled will be re-registered if they are still listed in the eKasih data as of the latest list and are not registered under i-Saraan.


Do eKasih participants who have registered under i-Saraan need to register for i-Suri to enable eligible members to receive the special i-Suri incentive?

Yes. eKasih participants who have registered under i-Saraan can choose to register as i-Suri participants if they meet the eligibility requirements. However, the eligibility for the special i-Suri incentive is subject to conditions set as follows:

i.   Housewives registered in the eKasih;
ii.  Registered under i-Suri;
iii. Malaysian Citizen;
iv. Below 55 years of age; and
v.  There are contribution payments received in the year. 

Note:
Registration for i-Saaran needs to be cancelled at any EPF branches before registering for i-Suri. The eligibility criteria for receiving incentives specify that a member is entitled to receive a single special incentive annually.

When does the new rate for the special i-Suri incentive take effect?

The new rate for the special i-Suri incentive comes into effect starting from the year 2024, based on contributions made in the year 2024.


What is the total amount of the special incentive that will be received by registered housewives/women under i-Suri?

The total amount of the special incentive for i-Suri to be received is based on a matching contribution of 50% for every RM1 contribution, subject to an annual maximum incentive limit of RM300.

An overall lifetime (accumulated) maximum special incentive limit of RM3,000 or reaching the age of 55, whichever comes first for each individual, is also introduced and will be considered starting from the year 2024.

The purpose of introducing a maximum lifetime special incentive limit of RM3,000 is:

i.   To accelerate the accumulation and rebuilding of savings for the retirement purposes of members, especially those impacted by the withdrawals of COVID-19;
ii.  To encourage members to proactively top-up their savings at any time;
iii. To safeguard the well-being of housewives/women and recognise their contribution within the family and national development; and 
iv. To ensure the receipt of incentives for a period of 10 years or until the member reaches 55 years of age, whichever occurs earlier


How can i-Suri contribution payments be made?

Members can make i-Suri contribution payments through the following channels:

i.   i-Akaun mobile application (Member);
ii.  Internet banking;
iii. Bank agent counters – BSN, Maybank, Public Bank & RHB Bank;
iv. Registered bank agent – (EB) BSN;
v.  Cash payment (maximum RM500)/bank cheque/bank draft/money order/postal money at all EPF branches;
vi. Debit Card payments through Mobile Team (MT), Mini Outreach Team (MoT) & EPF branches.
 


What is the minimum amount that needs to be contributed to qualify members to receive the maximum special incentive i-Suri of RM300?

There is no minimum contribution for voluntary i-Suri contributions. However, members are encouraged to contribute at least RM600 under i-Suri for the year in order for members to receive a maximum annual special incentive of RM300.

Why are there participants listed in the eKasih data who are not eligible to apply for i-Suri?

Participants listed in the eKasih data are not eligible to apply for i-Suri if:

i.   They are not listed as eKasih participants in the latest list;
ii.  They exceed the age requirement.

Note: For participants falling under the above criteria, they have the option to register for i-Saraan to receive i-Saraan special incentives, subject to terms and eligibility conditions.

When is the i-Suri special incentive payment credited to the member's EPF account?

i-Suri special incentive payment will be credited into the member's EPF account twice a year (subject to the receipt of special incentive payments from the government).

The special incentive payment is subject to an annual maximum limit of RM300, with a lifetime maximum incentive of RM3,000 per individual (accumulated) or when reaching 55 years of age, whichever is earlier.


What are the benefits for members who contribute under i-Suri?

The benefits that members can obtain for contributing under i-Suri are:

i.   Increase the retirement savings rate with special incentives from the Government;

Can members apply for a refund of i-Suri contributions that have been paid to EPF?

No. All i-Suri contributions paid to EPF are final. Therefore, members need to ensure that payments are in order before proceeding with the transaction.

It contains information about poverty, including individual profiles, programmes/assistance received by the Head of Household (KIR) and Household Members (AIR).
